Nike’s overly-defensive “Earned Not Given” shirt

nike earned not given shirt worn by LeBron James

Nike just wants to make it clear that the most coddled athlete in recent memory, one that refers to himself as “King James” and was anointed “The Chosen One” before graduating high school, has legitimately earned his ring. And it like totally TOTALLY wasn’t given to him. No way. In case somebody thinks that it was. But why would they? That’s CRAZY. So yeah, just in case – this shirt.

Have you ever seen a more defensive victory shirt in your life? Did Tom Brady and Bill Belichick wear a “We could have won without videotaping. Honestly, we could have.” shirt after winning a Superbowl?

You know what?  I kind of like this preemptive approach.  I’m going to walk into work tomorrow and declare at the staff meeting that I did NOT steal three cases of printer toner and sell them in the OfficeMax parking lot.  Just so everybody knows.

He was given calls in the clutch

He was given no calls in the clutch

He was given flop calls in every series

    Yet he earned his ring

Wow… that IS ridiculously defensive. About as defensive as the Lebron fanboys that frequent this page.

Man, I’m so sick of the ESPN stories where they’re shocked that people STILL dislike Lebron, even though he WON a CHAMPIONSHIP!!!1!!

lol losers. this page is really pathetic. blame the refs, blame lebron for leaving your shit city (anyone would have done the same), but that ring was earned and deep down you all know it.

  8. oldschool June 28, 2012 at 8:59 pm #

deep down you know it wasn’t earned hence the reason why you chose to comment on a “hatelebron” website

  9. oldschool June 28, 2012 at 9:00 pm #

  10. LBJ6 June 28, 2012 at 9:49 pm #

Is this seriously what the haters are mad about?
Nobody was yelling at kobe when he was parading around with his 5 ring shirt after there last championship.

Seriously you can dislike lebron as person but you have to give this one to him as a player he earned it.

Everyone told him he couldnt do but when he does do it your mad because he did? makes no sense

  12. jon July 2, 2012 at 12:10 am #

  13. Lebron James's Corporate Backing July 8, 2012 at 6:47 pm #

If he wasn’t high fiving the ref then why did Erik Spolestra stick his han out?????????

  14. Billy July 24, 2012 at 12:03 am #

lol this site gonna get taken down soon.. won a championship, finals mvp, mvp, and almost defensive player of the year. And the excuse you give me is the refs gave them the win?? if you HATERS knew sumthing about basketball u would know that the 2002 WCF (Lakers vs Kings) was rigged.. game 6 of the wcf was the worst officiated game in NBA history without question.. So to lebron haters give credit where credit is due.. the only joke yall have now is his hairline lol…

I have never seen a great player stay on the court when the game is in hand as much as Lebron James does. He is absolutely out for stats. He gets great stats in points, assists and rebounds….then when Miami would be up 15-20 with 6 minutes left, he stays out and goes to the top of the key to distribute the ball and intentionally look for assists. I was overseas and got to see the odd recorded game at the pub. 10 Miami games and it was obvious Lebron was staying in the game past ‘superstar’ time and looking for stats. Case in point, they were up 20 points in the playoffs with 5 minutes left, Oklahoma reserves were in, Lebron grabs a rebound, brings the ball down and shoots a three. The new NBA is a joke. Durant was given bullshit fouls that put him in early foul trouble in every game.

hahahahaha i guess you guys will never stop hating. its just sad to know that you guys just waste your own sad pitiful lives on hate and belly aching. oh lebron got bullshit calls, oh lebron just looks for stats, oh lebron this and that. all of these guys are the same, they are all marketable athletes so all of them obviously are trying to seem like the greater one. stop whining about one goddamn person, people and get your sorry lives in check

  17. hahaha August 11, 2012 at 8:48 pm #

oh and id rather leave a comment on a “pathetic” website than bitch about someone being more successful than them. you guys will never do what any of these athletes do and thats why you really hate them.

  18. lebron. spurned not driven. August 15, 2012 at 4:07 am #

Earned not given?! My next pair of shoes will be Adidas. Without question.

Fact of the matter is his legacy will always remain tarnished from the stunt he and his amigos pulled to collectively land at the tarmac in MIA, in my opinion. And I know I am not alone in my beliefs. In the court of public opinion, it sounds as if people still have pretty strong views about this.

I have an analogy that applies to why I believe lebron can get as many championship rings as he wants, they will still ring hollow in the eyes of many.

You ever see the movie “The Insider” with Russell Crowe, Al Pacino, and Christopher Plummer? Two sides were legally pitted against each other. The side of benevolence, adherence to conscience and unwavering resolve (Jeff Wigand). The other big tobacco and their heavy-hitting and unscrupulous lawyers defending a line of health-debilitating products in cigarettes. A real David and Goliath story. One watched The Insider and were left full of admiration for the purpose and resolve of Mr. Wigand.

In Cleveland, I saw lebron as teamed in an honorable pursuit, or building on my analogy further if you will, one that acted as “legal representation” for the likes of Mr. Wigand because it was his path that marshaled that of integrity in purpose. Instead, lebron hopped on over to the other side (the big tobacco legal team) because it was the side of the giant, offered the biggest bang for the buck and was perceived as a far easier path to victory.

Well. The path to least resistance is not the stuff of champions. It’s the short cut to a championship. I root for the David’s of the world because it is those athletes that truly overcome, with unwavering resolve, that could only be crowned king. It is the right message. lebron’s was the wrong one.

A glowing column for lebron should not even be spoken in the same stadium as Michael Jordan. It debases the sport.

Hey why do scum like you exist? You made this fucking website because you have no life. You are a HATER.

You obviously didnt get enough love as a kid. Go get an education, a talent, or a job. One of those would be beneficial to you. Hey LEBRON has all three of those.

I guess you are just mad because people didnt compare you Jordan as a HS sophomore. You must be mad because you havent the shity of Cleveland in your hands at the age of 19.You must be mad you’re not the owner of the most valuble sports franchise on the globe- MAN U Soccer. Oh you’re probably pissed you dont have the second best uselling shoe title named after you. You’re mad you have never won a gold medal, NBA Championship, MVP, Finals MVP, and knowing you, a HS state championship is oit of your reach, hell Lebron won 2 HS national championships. You’re mad you dont hang out with Jay-Z, or know our President Obama on a first name basis.

Like Lebron said “Yall gotta wake up tomorrow and be yourself, you can spend a couple weeks hating on Lebron, but eventually you have to get back to your life, and I will keep enjoying mine.”

Essentially he said- “Hey all you dumb muthafuckas, I play a sport and I am a 270+ Million dollar man with a minimal HS education. My haters have no talent and have $40,000 jobs and their vacation is a trip to South Beach to boo me. You gotta go work 40 hour work weeks and pay for my tickets and buy my shoes. Imma still drive my Maybach. Nah said, bitch ass niggas.”

Hey man can I have managed to answer many of my questions about you just by assuming your life sucks. But I have one burning question for you…

NBA has a huge problem. Arguably their best player and certainly the most hyped player, lebronze, has to be the most hated superstar of alltime. Now that he’s won his ring why should the haters watch? The fun of seeing lebron go RINGLESS is gone. Given not earned. Lebron is a bàstard who’s mom had him at 15 yes 15 while high on crack. No wonder he’s so immature and arrogant.

@hahaha oh and id rather leave a comment on a “pathetic” website than bitch about someone being more successful than them. you guys will never do what any of these athletes do and thats why you really hate them.

you my friend are what foreigners refer to as the retarded american…i congratulate those who are like you because it is you guys that makes the entire world hate us for being unbelievably stupid…this website isnt about mere “hating”…its about showing people that not all americans are blind fools

really hahaha???? so you comment on a “pathetic” website because you think i’m jealous of lebron??? please i make enough money and im extremely happy with my life…i wouldnt trade lives with that bitch lebron even if he offered but you obviously would because you’re a stan who cares deeply and emotionally about someone who doesnt even know any of you dickriding bandwagoners exist…your comments are as hollow as lebrons stained ring so please, keep commenting :)

Miami Heat and Lebron James fans are trying to discredit this video. The Heat flopped and complained their way to a championship. “like” this video on Youtube so they can see that 80% didn’t agree with the outcome of the finals.

  23. MarioFT November 25, 2012 at 6:12 pm #

This just makes me laugh because you have this much time to hate on one of the greatest athletes in the world.

  24. Brick December 26, 2012 at 6:12 pm #

Hahahahaha. The game from yesterday reminded me how “earned” his ring was.

  25. Gillith October 10, 2013 at 6:22 pm #

This is absolutely pathetic… Haters gonna hate. Look where he is and where you are. Sad just sad
